Why is Fire Extinguisher Better Than Water to Defeat Fire

!±8± Why is Fire Extinguisher Better Than Water to Defeat Fire

Water versus fire, we have grown to know this concept. We grew up believing that the best way to put out the flames is with water. Although this is often the case, it is not always the best way. There are several instances where in the use of water has caused other problems. Most of the time, this can lead to electrocution. This happens when the cause of fire is electrical sparks.

The use of fire extinguishers to stop fire is better because of many reasons. Many invest in the device because of this. Even if homeowners do not use the extinguishers often, the mere fact that it is available when they need it makes them feel secure.

That is not the only advantage of the device. Below is a list of its other advantages:

1. They are specific.

If you have noticed, there are various types of fire extinguishers. Specified on the labels are the causes of fire it can deal with. This does not rule out water as one of the components to eliminate fire. In fact, there is water fire extinguishers used to eliminate fire fueled by common flammable objects.

You will also see in the labels that some extinguisher can deal with two or more classes of fire. As you may have learned, there are various classes of fire according to its fuel sources. Some of the fuel sources are the wood and paper. Another is the flammable liquids including oil and grease. Electricity is another source. Lastly, flammable metals like magnesium can also fuel the flames.

Specific components of the extinguishers are necessary to stop these different fuels. Fire fighters need this to eliminate the flames and prevent it from reigniting.

2. You can position them in the different areas of the house

The devices come in cylinders. This means that you can place one in the different areas of the house. If you want to rely on water, you need to have a faucet in each room. Although it is possible, it will not look good in some rooms. You will need to attach water hose to it as well so that you can fight the fire with water.

If you have the water fire extinguisher, you will not need the faucet or the water hose in each room. It is very portable. You can have it hanged on the wall to be visible. This makes it accessible as well.

3. It is easy to use.

When using the water, you will need to open the faucet and carry the water hose when there is fire. With the extinguisher, all you need is to grab the device. After that, you can pull its pin, aim it on the base of the flame, squeeze the lever, and do a sweeping motion to contain it.

Although water is effective in most cases, fire extinguishers are better. You can choose an extinguisher that will suit the need of your space. It is easier to store and better to use.
